Glaciers around Ny-Ålesund

Some of the glaciers around Ny-Ålesund have new crevasse pattern. Therefore it is not recommended to drive on Uversbreen, Comfortlessbreen and Aavatsmarkbreen.

Uversbreen is moving!

Satellite pictures analysed by UNIS show a sudden move of Uversbreen early January 2014. It isn't clear yet if it is an ongoing surge or not. Note that the colors give the different speed in m/day over a period of 11 days.
Be aware of possible new crevasses. Consider alternative routes!
